KITO ERIKKILA is a dynamic manufacturer of light crane solutions, jib, and portal cranes. The company stands for quality, innovation, and know-how and is part of the worldwide KITO group. The main office and factory are located in Southern Finland, where all light cranes are designed and manufactured.

100 years of history

Key milestones and achievements of ERIKKILA.

1912

Erikkilä was founded in Vyborg, the centre of international trade in Finland.

1917

Europe and Finland in turmoil, the company moved to northwest Finland, to Raahe.

1933

The company moved to Helsinki and signed its first crane representation agreement with the German Heinrich de Fries (HADEF).

1976

The company concentrated solely on lifting equipment.

1977-1988

Technical innovations and crane development were at the core of the operations. The company innovated, designed, sold and installed, while crane manufacturing was outsourced.

1977

PROSYSTEM product innovation and the first company in Scandinavia manufacturing PROSYSTEM light crane systems.

1978

First in the world to develop a raised bridge construction to light crane systems.

1987

The official name of the company was changed to Erikkilä Nostotekniikkaa Oy.

1988

The company started its own PROSYSTEM light crane systems production in Espoo.

1989

The first manufacturer of light crane systems to use powder painting of crane profiles. First in patenting ROBSYSTEM robotic cranes.

1991

First western crane company establishing a factory in Estonia.

1995

The growth of the company required more extensive facilities. The factory and office moved to Masala, Kirkkonummi, to its present location.

1996

First to patent integrated rubber buffers in PROSYSTEM push trolley.

2003

First Finnish crane manufacturer to launch a light crane system made of aluminium.

2004

Launch of a new generation PROSYSTEM Light Crane System to the market. First to invent and patent an overload indicator to PROSYSTEM light crane systems making it one of the safest in the world. Also, first to pack crane components in a vacuum.

2005

Member of FEM (Federation of European Material handling Manufacturers) organisation. Active participation in developing the first European Light Crane Standard and serving as the chairman of the standardisation group.

2010 - 2011

The company name changed to ERIKKILA Oy. Expansion of the production facilities in Masala to a total size of 3500 m2.

2012

Publication of a book on ERIKKILA's 100-year history.

2018

Kito Corporation acquires all ERIKKILA Oy shares in Finland through its' subsidiary Kito Europe GmbH, making ERIKKILA part of the KITO Group in Europe.

2019

Knut Stewen is appointed as the new managing director.

2023

The Crosby Group and KITO CORPORATION complete business combination.
